As the year draws to a close, it seems the perfect time to take a look back. In a GradPost article on Thanksgiving Day, we did just that, reflecting on all that we have to be thankful for here at UC Santa Barbara, from our resources and honors to our services and surroundings. UCSB’s Office of Public Affairs and Communications (OPAC) also wanted to look at life on our campus.
On Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, a team of photographers as well as videographer Spencer Bruttig set out to capture a Day in the Life on our beautiful campus.
From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., they followed surfers; sat in on classes; snapped bicyclists as they swarmed the bike paths; viewed the action of basketball players and graceful dancers; grabbed a bite to eat at the De La Guerra dining commons; and captured the sun as it sank into the sea.
Thousands of still images were made that day by photographers Mike Eliason, Sonia Fernandez, and Tony Mastres. The images will be compiled into a Day in the Life photo book, according to OPAC. View the UCSB Day in the Life video below.
